Here's the URL for a good site explaining. The baby's crying (I'm babysitting mygranddaughter) and I have to get her from her nap.

Ann, I agree with everything that you say, but Istill have a complaint.*smile, some people are never happy.*
My complaint is that bookshare is mixing up thenimac books (not readable bymost of the people on this list) and publisherquality books, readable byeveryone on this list, if they take the time andeffort to do it. In fact,I've read a number of the publisher quality books, and choose them wheneverpossible because of their lack of errors.
However, I'm fairly sure that the number of nimacbooks is going to increasein the near (very near) future, and I thinkbookshare should work out a wayto filter out the nimac books as soon as possible. This should be a fairlyeasy task to do as they already have a method ofdistinguishing betweennimac books and publisher quality books. They haveto do that to keep usfrom reading them. It's just a matter of priority.

Hi all,
Now, Brian, you either haven't been checking thelist of new books, or youhaven't been paying attention to the threadshere.
One, the Synopses issue has been solved. Allisonis working on that, andif you see a book that doesn't have one, asynopsis, you can send it toher.
Two, portability is possible, if you discoverthat a PQ book can't be readby your favorite portable device, convert it!Don't sit around, beproactive! Convert to HTML then to TXT. You canplace a TXT file in anykind of device: notetaker, PDA, cell phone, DOScomputer, Linux computer(both laptop and desktop) Windows 9x 2000 XP andVista (both laptop anddesktop). Mr. Glass assures us that theengineers are working hard tosmooth out the wrinkles in this process, and theyneed time vto do that. So, my friend, iffin you want a PQ book, downloadit and convert it. Itreally only takes about five minutes. Shoot, folks, when you considerthat against not having the book at all or havingto wait two years tohave the book read by NLS, I do believe that theperspective will becomeself evident.
Oh, now, I'm not letting the Bookshare staff offthe hook by any means. Itis their job to figure out the solution to theformat issues, but I'mprepared to wait a reasonable amount of time forit to happen.
Just a personal note here. I was walking intoChurch Choir rehearsal onWednesday night and struck up a conversation withone of the othersopranos about the book I'm currently validating.Oh, yes, she said. That's her newest book isn't it, came out latelast year. Now folks, whenhas that happened to you? That, my friends, is atotal rush for me! Iused to sit smiling at dinner tables and in othergatherings while peoplearound me discussed the latest books. Now, *I*can do it too! That, I amafraid puts things into perspective for me prettydarn quick.

Original message:All,
I can't understand how one is supposed to usethese books if they are notportable in any way... Are they strictly fordesktop reading? Verypuzzling, and very frustrating.
And then the lack of synopsies... Whew! Veryfrustrating.
