Hi, Kurt.
Perhaps this is a foolish question, but what does the use of
rechargeable, as opposed to alkaline, batteries have to do with the BP's
failing to work? I know they're not recommended, but understood this was
only because the battery gauge was thrown off. If anyone at APH, or any
other user, knows of other reasons against such batteries I, for one, would
love to hear of them.

Subject: [bookport] something you ned to know

I just want to let everybody know what I am doing and why. When I get my
bookport back I will be using alkaline batteries. I used to use
rechargable batteries, but no more. This is because my bookport stopped
working. Everybody else should do the same because when you send in your
bookport it will take four to six weeks if they have to send it back to I
believe it is Springer. Also, the back order time is approximately eight
weeks. Four to six weeks is a very long time to wait, but that is what
you will have to put up with and that is how long you will be without it.
As I say, that is what I will be doing, even though it is not what I did
when I first got it. A friend of mine had a book courier and the same
thing happened. He sent in his unit and it was just loose battery
contacts, and he got his back within about a week and a half. So beware,
if you don't want to wait four to six weeks you are going to have to be
more gentle with the bookport than you ever thought, and that might not
even help. Well, that's it. I am sitting back and waiting for January
when the bookport comes back. Merry Christmas everybody, and a very
happy bookport new year. Kurt
