You might have to change the drive letter XP has assigned the Bookport.
First, try this. With your Bookport connected, reboot your computer. In some cases XP will then see the Bookport.
If this doesn't work, disconnect all other USB devices. Then plug in the BP. Also, make sure the batteries are fresh. If they aren't, Windows might not recognize it.
To find out how to change the drive letter XP has assigned the Bookport, either someone on list will have to tell you, or you will have to read the manual. Frankly, I don't know how to do it, because I have never had this problem.

Have you install Bookport Transfer?  There should have been a CD that
came along with the BP.
