That is absolutely true. Also the Bookport can act strangely if there are too many files in the root directory and also in different folders. I try to keep it 24 to 30 files per folder. You put any more that in the folders, and you likely will get into trouble. The BP will become sluggish, and you will get strange sounding error messages.

Dane, didn't you say you had ordered a 4GB card for around $22.00? You just might have a bad card on your hands. I hope not, because I bought one of those, too. I have formatted it, but I haven't put anything on it.

. If this was me, I would reformat the card using a card reader on the PC. I would pop it back in the Bookport to see what happened.

Another cause of weird behavior is a card that is too full. BP needs a little free space to work in.

bad memory card will act like this, too. Maybe just a format will get things working again for you.

You might try a fresh set of batteries. Yesterday my BP went crazy. The batteries weren't as low as they usually are when I'm told they need replacing. So when it started spouting gibberish and the reset command didn't work, I took the batteries out for a few seconds and put them back. All went well for a little while. Then the same thing happened again. This time I put in a new set of batteries and all is well. So I'm wondering if the set of batteries that were in use at the time of the snafu were not delivering a steady source of power. Just a thought.
