What computer program did you use to edit your Bible so that your page breaks were preserved in the text file? Also, what did you use for section markers and how did you get the section keys, as opposed to the subsection keys, to recognize them? I tried working a test file with just a few books using the _____ marker to divide books, but for some reason, I could only navigate between books using the subsection keys. Thanks.

Hi. Below is a post about Book Port and a bible from quite a while back, but

thought it might be of help here again.
***
Here's how I loaded my Bible on to my Bookport.
Firstly I used the best translation. You know the new one. Nothing beats it!
<grin> Except the original Greek and Hebrew, of course.

Anyway, it's in 1 text file that is 3.925 MB big. How's that for cutting it
close.
Before loading it on the BP, I put section markers just before each book.
Then I put page breaks (CTRL+L) right before each chapter.
Once on the BP I put a bookmark just before the New Testament.
So I can start off at the beginning of the Bible, or at the end, ore at the
New Testament with the bookmark, then the section keys jump me between
books, the page keys jump me between the chapters, and the sentence and
paragraph keys get me around in the chapter as usual.
Now I can get to anywhere in the bible usually within 10 to 15 seconds. This

is pretty awesome to me. Previously I could only do that on my computer.
I hope that helps somebody.

Jacques

I, too have a Road Runner Bible, but that device wasn't built to accommodate transfers. If you have the Bible on a regular Road Runner, a serial transfer would be possible with the software included and the cable

supplied. If you're wondering which unit you have, the Road Runner Bible did not come with either software or a transfer cable; and no, transfers can't happen.

Several Bible translations are available free from Internet websites, and any search engine can find them. I've downloaded several, transferred them to my Book Port, inserted bookmarks so that I can get from one book to another, and the Book Port's own paragraph navigation points nearly always get you cleanly from one verse to the next. Then, after processing

the files manually, I've transferred them back to my PC into a special folder which I've designated as "Book Port Bible Folder." This is important because these files have extensions which won't allow them to be

played on any other equipment with the exception of the Book Courier, which will accept them comfortably. Before you transfer any files from Book Port which have been processed by its transfer software, it will be necessary to go to your computer's control panel, click on "Folder Options," and allow hidden files to be viewed. This option involves a check box which you can check or uncheck. Any time Book Port files can't be transferred to your PC it will be because this check box hasn't received appropriate attention. Once you've transferred filtered files to

your PC, it is no longer necessary necessary to use the Book Port's transfer software to place them on Book Port again. You can simply paste them onto the CompactFlash card via a card reader.

Again, most downloadable Bible texts lend themselves very well to being navigated seamlessly on Book Port with only minimal bookmarks; namely, book divisions. Project Gutenberg offers the King James, American Standard, and World English translations as well as several others, some of which include the Apocrypha. Any search engine will get you there.

I actually have two questions. The first is: Is there any way to transfer the Bible text on my Roadrunner Bible to my Book Port or can I download a similar text which will have good navigation? The second question is I am having trouble moving files using the move files command. I have quite a bit of music on my Book Port. So I created a music folder but couldnt get the music files into it by using the star and number command. Am I doing something wrong? Please help! Jo Anne Stombaugh.
