Deb: There could be several things going on here. Basically, it depends on how the file was converted. Whenever you make or convert a file to an MP3 format, there are parameters and depending on those parameters, the file will vary in size. I don't know if Goldwave or whatever program you use let's you control that, but most programs do. The file rate is what controls the size. A file that is converted at 192 kbs would be bigger than a file at 128 kbs. The files could be the same in terms of total playing time, but different in size, according to how they were converted and their size. So, it depends on what your conversion rate is. You can't really go by the time of the file, but the size of thefile. The other thing is that you need to have 3 times the amount of space per file. So, if you have an MP3 file that is 3 megs in size, it would actually take up 9 megs in space. Here is my question. When I try to transfer an Mp3 file that I have created, length approximately 7 hours, I get a message saying that the flash card is full. However, when I transfer a book from Audible.com, the same length of time, I can actually get both parts of the book on the BookPort, length of timeactually doubled. Does anyone know if the format for the audible.comfiles compressis the files more than the MP3 format does? Hope this all makesince, and thanks, Deb.
