in 1979 Telesensory came out with the Versabraille computer.  Not only did 
it have a Braille display, but it use a standard cassette to store 
information.  It connected to an almost computer called the Ampro Bookshelf 
Computer.

Boy that was a while back...

Anybody remember the BrailleMate?  That was the first unit I remember that
had a memory card.  As I remember you could buy a 1 meg flash memory card
for it for $1000 in 1991.
