Mike I don't know if this will help but this is how I got the transfer software last week. I could do it no other way other than to disable my firewall and I wasn't going to do that. I went to the APH web site and downloaded Bookport transfer and instead of saving it I clicked on run. Then I connected the Bookport to my computer and was able to get the software. Next I went into options and chose the firmware update to which my firewall asked if I wanted to allow this. I answered yes and everything went fine. I don't know if it is going to work again this way but we'll see with the new software and firmware. Hi all. I just downloaded and installed both the software and firmware updates for book port. Here's why the subject is a question. I use Sygate free personal firewall and enjoy the fact that in most cases I don't have problems with it running in the background protecting my computer. However, in order to get the book port transfer software to recognize the updated firmware I had to disable Sygate in order for the firmware to be downloaded and installed thus compromising my computer. Wouldn't the good folks at APH be able to resolve this disconcerting problem? I tried alt-tabbing after launching the updated transfer software and this time Sygate would not gain focus using Window-eyes. Once I disabled Sygate and heard its dire warning, the transfer software opened and spoke as it normally does and should and I could then download and install the firmware. Surely APH could make it possible so that I don't have to disable Sygate every time I update the transfer software, can't they? Mike M
