Hi Richard,

Thanks very much for the info. By the way, does the headset you got from
amazon cover both ears? Some of the Bluetooth headsets I've seen in circuit
city and elsewhere, which are intended for use with a cell phone, only cover
one ear.

Hi,

I just bought a Bluetooth laptop about a week ago and bought a Bluetooth
wireless headset to go with it. I am also using it for the Bookport and the

NLS tape Player, It can also be used for a Bluetooth cell phone
simultaneously as the headset has a microphone. As the laptop has Bluetooth

no adaptor is necessary but it is a little tricky to set up.

I have the Plantronics 590A which comes with headset, universaal adaptor, ac

charging cable, charging stand, usb charging cable, cable to use the headset

as wired on an airplane. and a semi-rigid carrying case for everything when
traveling. It was $115 including shipping and sales tax. at Amazon.
Warning: On the Amazon website there is also a Plantronics 590E which has
exactly the same description for $100. The description is actually for the
590A and this unit does not have any accessories except the ac charging
cable.

The setup is simple for tha adaptor which is the Bluetooth transmitter has
been "paired" at the factory with the headset. The adaptor plugs into the
headset jack on the Bookport. The headset and the adaptor are rechargeable
and will run for about 10 hours or so. The adaptor is about 1 1/2 inches
round by about 1/2 inch thick and has a short cable with a 90 degree phono
plug. It just hangs there which I don't care for but there are a number of
solutions for that. The adaptor and the headset have on/off switches which
are a little hard to operate but this is not really a problem.

The sound quality is very good up to 30 feet or so where it cuts off
abruptly. I suggest you read the reviewa on this device which appears to be

top rated as well as reviews on other devices. This headset is the "over
the head open type". If you go the usb route you will also need a
Bluetooth headset which will have to paired with each other. I initially
bought a Logitech model which was a "behind the head type" which I returned
because it was discontinued because of a headband breaking problem.

Hope this contributes to making the right decision.

Richard
