Dave, how do you Skype them? Some of us don't have shortwave radios. Isn't there a way to set the computer using WWV?At 12:31 PM 7/8/2007 +1200, you wrote:

Hi Frances and list!

Sure I've thought of it. It's signal is quite weak here. By the time it takes for me to locate the radio, connect the external antenna required to hear it, and re-memorise the keyboard on the radio to get WWV tuned in, I could have rang WWV ten times over. *lol*

Dave

Have you ever though of getting wwv on a shortwave radio? When I want accurate time I use this method and it's spot on.

Hi George and list!

It's been my experience that if before changing batteries, I use the change batteries command (D+E+F), then change batteries reasonably quickly, the date and time settings hold reasonably close. If, however, I don't do that, date and time will need to be reset once the new batteries are installed. Others' experiences have varied a bit from this. If I happen to be at home when I change batteries, I'll usually attempt to double check the proxemity of the time with WWV as I have entered it as a Skype out contact in my contact list. When taking net lag into account, this means my time might be as much as 5 to 10 seconds off. If on the other hand, I am not at home when new batteries are required, I attempt to use my cell phone to check or reset the bookport. My cell phone is kept reasonably accurate by syncing with the time on my bluetooth GPS receiver. Since I use alarms on the bookport fairly extensively, it is important that the clock maintain good setting.

Cheers,
Dave

I was wondering, when changing the batteries,
Do I need to reset date/time?

Kind Regards,
