Dave and others: I think I know what your low-frequency pop is after the double beep. If it is what I think it is, it has been there since the beginning of = time, and is related to the distortion sometimes heard after stopping an = MP3 file. It should only happen after reading MP3 files. It should not = happen all of the time. Yes, it is related to power shutting down. If this is the problem, we are working on it. If my conditions above do = not match your experience, please let me know. Rob Meredith >>> wd8ldy@xxxxxxxxxx 09/26/04 07:41AM >>> Hello List: It is possible that this is not new or unexpected behaviour. I am = reporting it because I have only begun noticing it recently. Since I did not notice = it before updating the firmware to 01.02, I'm thinking that it could be a product of the new updated firmware. It is normal for the Bookport to provide two quick beeps about ten seconds after stopping audio, or the lock/unlock commands, etc. I understand that hearing the double beep signal means it is safe to remove the card. That = is not new nor unusual. What is, however, is that I'm now hearing a definite low frequency click immediately following the double beep. I assume this = is a consequence of the power actually shutting down. I have tested this both with an external speaker and headphones, and find I can easily hear this extra sound following the double beep with either without difficulty. My volume setting is at 32. Might it be possible to eliminate this bi-product in the future? Cheers, Dave
