Fred Puhn is a friend of mine, here in San Diego. He ran Chassis
Engineering, the manufacturer of the spun Monocoque Wheels and the Quasar
cars, in National City CA, just South of SD.
That building became Scott's Porsche Parts, run by Jacques LeFriant, who
sponsored me in my SCCA National race days 1975-1981.
I drove Jacques' Chassis Engineering air cooled Super Vee at the Coronado
Speed Festival years ago (Photo attached). I think Fred built 2 of them.
Fred also designed and built the Santee sports car.

The spun wheels were taken over by Monocoque Wheel Co in Santee CA, just
East of SD, which is out of business.
Other companies currently make similar spun aluminum wheels.

Here are a few pics of a wide chassis SR3 recently posted for sale. The
rear solid disk wheels are of an unknown origin and appear to be much wider
than the pics Ron had posted. Also the bolt pattern is more like the
“standard” Bobsy pattern and wheels appear to be two piece.

15 inch diameter  (in SCCA racing, anyway).

Perhaps they were a special request to your dad for use on a
dune-buggy type of application(?)

Any idea as to what these wheels go to?  VW bolt pattern, 6x14, however
I have never seen them on a Bobsy Vee.
