Both the access bridge and latest version of Java, jre and sdk, are
available from Sun Micro Systems http://java.sun.com.

I have used the book "Thinking in Java" by Bruce Eckel, Mindview Inc, for
some time and really enjoy it.
It is available in paper from Prentice Hall publishing or online from
Mindview at http://www.mindview.net.
The online book is in html format or older versions are available in Ms-word
format.
He also has a number of other books that look pretty good. The older
versions of the book are available for free but the current version costs
about $25. He also has some CD roms for the books as well as answer guides.

Best,
J. R.

Subject: [blind-it] Java Query:

I am interested in getting involved with Java Programming. I haven't done
this in about 7 years. I am sure this technology has changed. I am also a
blind user and remember that the Java bridge had to be used. Is this still
the case? Does anyone know where I can obtain Java 1.4.2 SDK, the JRE, and
any other thing I will need to start exploring refamiliarizing myself with
the Java language. If the Java bridge is still used, where might I obtain
that? Any assistance pertaining to the Java language would be appreciated!
