Oh, we have a working class alright. When I got around to reading Aviva
Chomsky's book on immigration, I discovered that much of our construction
today is being done by undocumented immigrants. They are underpaid and not
represented by unions because, legally, they don't exist. We have a working
class who are home health aides and security guards and Walmart employees
and consumer representatives on the phone, and Uber drivers, etc. They aare
poorly paid and under employed workers. They are farm workers. What we don't
have is an organized workers' movement with power, independent from the
Democratic Party.

I hear you loud and clear. Actually we do not need to look across the
oceans to learn about hatred, racism, bullying and fear mongering.
Setting aside the obvious example of the KKK and Black Americans, we can
look to the Union Busters of the 1890's through the 1930's. Town toughs
were gathered and given bully sticks with instructions on how to use them.
They were turned out with orders to break up picket lines and gatherings of
protesters. My own uncle Bill was a stoolie for the company bosses and
later, for the FBI. He infiltrated labor meetings, or neighborhood
gatherings, ordered to report the names of any individual who spoke out
against the bosses or against the local political bosses. Today's crisis
may actually be worse for the American Laborers because their once powerful
Working Class is barely breathing today.
