There's no good news. That Republican majority will codify every right wing,
racist, idea that Trump comes up with. If you'd heard Democracy Now last
night, you'd have heard Alan Nearn describe the process in detail. Remember
that the Republicans want to privatize social security and medicare, that
they want to do away with anything that looks like welfare, that they want
to beef up the military, that Trump and the Republicans want to deport all
undocumented immigrants. The Newsweek article that I read this morning, that
I couldn't copy because of all of the ads In the middle, reminded us that
Trump can undo every presidential executive order of Obama's which includes
all of the temporary help to the dreamers and their families. Nearn said
last night that the President, the congress, and the supreme court, and
remember what kind of judges Trump will appoint, can undo the legal
structure that guarantees the freedoms that we still have. They can, in
fact, change the whole governmental structure because the three branches of
government, Executive, Judicial and legislative, will all be in agreement.
And for all of the naïve and hopeful souls who talk about organizing and
fighting back, remember that the federal government and now, the police,
have the military power, including the drones that can assasinate people, to
put down any demonstrations, any organizing. Think about what happened at
Standing Rock and quadruple it and remember that there'll be no one to
restrain the government.

But now that we've fallen through the Curtain into the Twilight Zone, the
moment to begin building a new world is at hand.
But before going on, I do need to run one final disclaimer. Remember, I
have said before that I am the world's worst predictor of presidential
elections...or most any election. In my All Blue Washington State, I do
pretty well in guessing outcomes. Cyrus Habib took the Lieutenant Governor
race, and of course Patty Murray returns to the Senate...as a member of the
minority party. But out in the "Real World", the rest of America, my
batting average would send me to the Class B League in Podunk.
Now to lick my wounds and begin peering about. Some folks believe...and I'm
one of them...that if the democrats had allowed Bernie Sanders to become the
Party's Candidate, he would have taken the Electoral College Votes.
It already appears that Hillary Clinton will end up with the majority of the
popular vote, so it stands to reason that Bernie would have won by an even
wider margin. But like the DNC, our wise leaders did not trust the common
"man in the street". So in drafting their Oligarchy, they protected it a
wee bit more by adding the protection of a ghostly collection of shadowy
members called the Electoral College. Remember, there were only 13 states
in the beginning. Controlling the vote in the most populated states assured
the new government a stable future.
And for nearly 230 years it has worked wonderfully well.
The use of the Super Delegate by the DNC is merely a reflection of this
internal control used by the constitution framers. And it has
backfired...in both cases. The DNC shot down their chances of controlling
the nation's direction when they smirked and froze Bernie out of the game.
The Ruling Class has set itself up for a wild ride, watching as the winner
of the popular vote, a candidate they could have worked with, was pushed
aside and they watched as the Electoral College put in their worst
nightmare.
The good news may be what I would have called the Bad News, yesterday.
Control of both Houses by the Republican Party may well be our Salvation.
No matter what wild hair is up the backside of Trump, Congress can temper or
block him.
But no matter what goes down these next four years, we had better get busy
building a Plan of Action that does include those who are certain to take
the brunt of Trump's dream of "returning to our former glory".
