I don't think the US policy toward Saudi Arabia has changed since FDR was in
office. It's just that in the past, as with much else that the US has done
in the world that has negatively affected other countries and the people in
them, things were hidden more effectively from the public. But you now have
a government in which both houses of congress are controlled by the Far
Right, and a President who doesn't feel the need for superficial politeness
or subtlety. So all of the barbarism is right out in public.
