I think it would be helpful if you would not cross post because each time
someone does it, and it has happened several times in the past, it disrupts
this list. It's difficult for us who use screen readers, to tell where the
posts are coming from and whom to answer. So even if you want to send the
same post to several lists, it would be helpful to send it separately to the
lists, if the lists are blindness lists.
There are a lot of very right wing blind people in New York, both in the
city and outside it. The people who live in New York are protected from the
realities that people in many other parts of the country must face, because
the state, and especially New York City, tend to provide a better social
service network than do other places. But these people don't realize how
important federal dollars are. Also, if she lives in the apartment building
in Manhattan that is specifically dedicated to blind people, she is in a
sheltered world with many services and little sense of the real world that
the rest of us must face.

I sent my original message to the chit-chat list as well as to this one.
It's pretty much equally moderate, liberal, and so-called conservative now,
and for some reason Kathleen sees any message that is the least progressive
as propaganda and takes great exception to them. I feel that everyone
should have access to the truth of at least what the Republican "Repeal and
Replace"
programs have been, but she simply refuses to accept they could possibly be
true. Don't know for certain, but feel it's probable she voted Trump.
She's been hit twice by electric cars coming out of a parking garage near
her apartment building in NYC, and has had to have physical therapy more
than once.
She's on SSI, and I'm certain that she's also on Medicaid, so her physical
therapy was most likely paid for by Medicaid. She doesn't want to accept
that if she needs PT again, it will most likely not be available if the
Right-wingers get their way. She has a caregiver at least weekly, and she
can't seem to get it through her head that she won't get that service,
either. Plus they'll probably go after transit services as well, which will
leave her pretty much up Shit Creek. After all, they intend to shut down
Meals on Wheels and a number of other social services if they get their way.
Somehow in responding to my original post, she included the Demo list, too,
in the carbon copy field, so her response got here in spite of her having no
membership.
You know what they say--there is none so blind as he or she who refuses to
see.
