Hi Cindy,
I agree with Judy—most of us who proofread don’t have the ability to use a
print book to do it. I mostly scan, but I proofread a few books now and then
and I don’t use a print copy.
If you want to do these books, I suggest you download one and take a look.
Bookshare submitted some truly awful books when they first started doing these
wish list books. After some of us complained that they were impossible to proof
without a print copy, they began doing some preliminary cleanup before they
were submitted.
But, as I said, there is usually a pdf of the original scan available if you
ask staff for help.

Deborah, I did what you said and got the address of the person I contacted; if
one can't get a print book for comparison can we just proof without it as best
as we can? I wouldn't need a print book to fix formatting but there's no
guarantee spelling, grammar, punctuation would be identical to print book;
these are wish list books and I'd like to see them in the collection and Ithnk
I'd have fun proofing them.
