There are many factors that go into scanning and OCR'ing. One of the main factors is the way a book is held on the scanner. Often times, we don't realize how a book is being held by the scanner when we're going through the first time. However, when we're forced to rescan a particular page, we pay attention to this factor and, as a result, the scan is better. Sometimes, the underlying OCR engine tends to be querky too. Katy, I don't use the document feeder, but I have found that a rescan does sometimes make a difference, and how strange that is. grin. Hi Jim, I have found trying the other recognition engine often times will do better. Also, I have done an optimize scanning for one page. Now, if you are using a document feeder than optimizing will not work. Sometimes, just doing a rescan will give a much better result, but I don’t know why that is. Hi Anastasia, When you scan a book, do you do it one page at a time, or just put the automatic scan on, and scan the book while you read? Hi Jim I scan lots of pages and hve learned a few tricks. 1. make sure the page isnt folded. That happened to me once and I feld stupid. 2. fiddle around with brightness setting. sometimes the nimver needs to be increased and sometimes it needs to be decreased. 3. there is a setting on my program that says white on black. That takes care of colored writing yellow on blue for example. what book are you trying t scan? If I can get it I'll take a look. my local library is closed until later this month. That's why I haven't been making offers to scan. Take care Good luck Jim. Anastasia _____ Be a better Heartthrob.
