You are welcome, I am trying on this book currently scanning but the problem is that the author is using the same headers as the header for the chapter so you don't know which is which.

Robert,

Even if you use these guidelines when validating, it would be helpful. So
you don't necessarily have to use them when you submit, though it definitely
helps.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks, that helped a lot. With computer problems it will be a while before
I submit but in the meantime I will use the laptop here and it is a little
slower even it is 100MHZ slower than the PC I was using.

Robert,

Here are the basic guidelines about page numbers and headers.

. If a all possible, all page number should be preserved whether they
appear at the top of the page or the bottom.

2. If possible, all other header/footer material should be removed.

3. If the page number appears at the top of the page, it should be on the
very first line without any additional material preceeding it. (I.E. it
should be all by itself without anything else on the same line or above
it.)

4. There must be a blank line between the line that contains the page
number and the beginning of the page contents. (There can be multiple
blank
lines. But, there must be at least one.)

5. If the page number appears at the bottom of the page, then, it should
be
at the very last line of the page. (nothing else should appear on the
line
with the page number. No other lines should appear below the line with
the
page number.)

6. There must be at least one blank line immediately preceeding the line
that contains the page number. (There can be more than one.)

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Pratik

I want to make sure the page numbers stay in after the header stripper
does
it's thing. I kept up on the thread about leaving a blank line but got
confused on whether to leave a blank line between the page number and the
header. Kurzweil leave a blank line between pages.

Robert, why do you want to move the page numbers down? There's no way to
do
this except by hand.
Also, the confidence level doesn't affect your scanning results. It is
just
a report to let you know how confident the program is that it has
correctly
recognized the characters on the page. Turning it down simply means that
if
the scan is bad, you won't hear about it. I think it would be good to
keep
it at around 97 or so, but everyone has their own preferences.
