root of the problem. This, IMO, is one of the very good reasons why we
need an active listowner on this list. We need someone who not only
can take care of the logistics of the task, but someone who is willing
to step in and moderate when it seems necessary, someone to whom one
can forward a troubling post and say, "Yo, what about this one? Can
you take care of this?" I don't mean that we need a heavy-handed
listowner, just someone who can gently remind old-hands, mentor newbies
and generally stand in the gateway. As I have said before, and I think
our libertarian Roger will agree, I think we police ourselves pretty
well, but since this is a technical list, it may be worth taking time
and forethought to ask yourself, does this need to be posted? Can I
say this privately? Is my post just bringing coals to New Castle?
