I recommend having Kinko cut the binding off. The charge about 50 cents to do so and it makes scanning much simpler. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Robin Mandell Sent: Saturday, July 12, 2008 7:00 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] mass market paperbacks HI folks, I think I saw some coverage of this subject a while back, but I honestly wasn't paying attention. I have a Mass Market paperback I'm trying to scan, and it's not going well. The print is so close to the spine that words are being cut off at the ends and beginnings of lines (when I scan two pages at a time). I'm not sure that I want to spend the time trying to solve this problem, but I really want this book (Survival of the Fittest, by Jonathan Kellerman) to get into the collection, as the copy currently there is unreadable. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I send it to the Bookshare office to be scanned? I guess I won't be buying any Mass Market paperbacks in future.
