Hey:
The bks-friends list was designed with the idea that off topic messages that arose on this list could continue there course on that list.

That way we could keep the archives clean, welcome new members in to the fold, and still learn as much about each other as we would like.

Also, bks-friends has an added bonus that subscribing and unsubscribing does not require an act of Congress.
All one need do is E-mail, bks-friends-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You will then receive a confirm message, reply to it with a blank message and your good to go.

So that I don't become the problem that i'm trying to eleviate, this will be my last writing on the subject.
E-mail me offline if you have questions,

Hi Rui,

You probably confused the people.. As yoou know, I did join. First you
announced that off topic discussions would not be allowed; then later on
the actual site you said that nothing was off topic.

So now you have the beginnings of carpal tunnel for which I am very sorry,
and you may not feel like moderating a list. Annd if you just get another
chatter list, you will not like it.. <smile>> So you need, if you are
going to attempt this again, to tell people what you want the list to be.
Just my humble thoughts. You are a great volunteer. Good luck with your
carpal tunnel!

Regards,

Sue S.

Hello:

I must stress that even though scanning brings in more financial reward, I
wouldn't discourage vallidaters, one component is useless without the other.

Guys I have the beginning stages of carpeltunnel and so repeatedly hitting
the delete key for way off-topic messages is painful, literally.

I recommended people use a third list or bookshare officially convert
bookshare-discuss to a chatter list for several reasons.

One of which, I saw a friend try to look through the freelists archives for
some info and it was like a needle in a haystack amongst everything else.
Also, this list is cranking out like 70 msgs a day +.

To this end, I had created a third list, bks-friends@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I must say, the response to it was almost unanimous, not even my own sister
joined. (smile)

Well the list still exists and I figured I would give it one more chance.

I would like to broaden the appeal of this list to more current bookshare
members and I do not believe we can do that if this particular list
continues to be this eclectic.

If you just scan a book and it is aproved, $2.50 is the credit. If you
scan a book and submitted it and check it for errors and the like after
you downloaded it from the step 1 page and editted it for approval and
send it back to the step 2 page, $3 for credit but if you just aprove and
edit books for errors, it is 50 cents a book unless it has changed, as for
myself if there are a lot of errors, I will clean them up and submit the
whole process myself for 50 cents is not enough if you have to do a lot of
work on a particular book but that is the policy of bookshare. We havre
talked about credits before here so the discussion continues.

Hello All:)

It's a cloudy Sunday morning here in Portland and I'm off to the races:)
Dragon boat races that is.

Two questions.
First for the K1000 users what is the general standard for spelling
ranging.
How low do people try to get that number. I know, 0 is ideal?

Second, I have been a little unclear on the credit for scanning and
validating. What does one get for each? It seems I have heard some
different
numbers.
