Mike, I resent your remarks saying that validators are messing up books. I
guess you assume I submitted "Last of the Sky Pirates". Not at all. I am a
validator, trying to see that what I'm doing is working. I take
considerable pride in my work. I know that I have improved the quality on
many books, sometimes even bringing something from fair to good, or good to
excellent.
Just following the guidelines, which say basically to check for author and
copyright, is inadequate. I've seen a few books that only need that minimal
work, but most need a bit more, sometimes a lot more.
Then there's that pesky stripper, which, even when it does its job, won't
strip jumbled headers, and will strip chapter headers..
Don't discount the work of us validators. Without us, the quality of books
would not be as good, in most cases.
Tracy
