Hi Lori and everyone!I thought the elipses were just supposed to be added if there was just a space between the title and page number to standardize that. Does that mean we are suppose to remove the long dot leaders if they have been recognized by the OCR software?

Hmm, I'm thinking when we check for multiple numbers of periods and change to three that this might get messy. I guess it would at least still be consistent in the table of contents with only 3 periods and not the long line.Lori ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debby Franson" <the.bee@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, November 04, 2009 11:52 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Table Of ContentsHi Melissa and everyone! The first book I proofed, "Love on Its Knees" had dots between the title and the page number in the table of contents while the one I'm proofing now, "Rebel With a Cause" just has the number without dots, so it's the print books that are varying in their style of contents.Your idea of an elipsis sounds like a good one to me, though I do not know all of the Bookshare rules.Debby At 07:07 AM 11/3/2009, Melissa Smith wroteI've been thinking about Valerye's concerns about the table of contents. I got to thinking about how Braille books have a series of dots between the chapter title and page number. So, I was wondering if inserting an ellipses between the chapter title and page number would be an appropriate solution. An ellipses will be recognized and kept by bookshare's tools, and will give some separation between chapter title and page number for those that need that. It wouldn't be spoken by most screen readers, so wouldn't interfere with anybody's listening pleasure. Finally, since Braille readers are used to the series of dots between chapter title and page number, it wouldn't seem unusual to them either. So, do you think this would be acceptable and not violate any bookshare rules?Melissa To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxput the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
