But before uploading get word to save it as rtf since whoever downloads it will have to upload as rtf anyhow. rtf ought to take up less room than doc. Hope this helps.

You could also upload as a DOC file which sometimes is smaller than an RTF file. 40 mb is a big file for a book though. The two I uploaded last night were both rtf files and I don't think either of them were bigger than 2 mb.
