Hi Cindy,I recently validated an ARK file which has a 1952 copyright date. The introduction has a later copyright and states that the copyright on the book was allowed to lapse. The book is THE LEMON JELLY CAKE by by Madeline Babcock Smith. I still have the original ARK file and also the RTF file. Would either one of these be of any help?

Hi Jamie in Michigan,Yes, you're absolutely right, i.e., downloading a book in step 1 would giveme the RTF format, but I'm trying to work on a validationtutorial. I specifically need a public domain book to avoid any issues withcopyrights and so forth. I also need the RTF format as the test format booklet since that is what Bookshare prefers, and it will give new validators a chance to work with that format (if they choose to do the tutorial). So far I've Googled "public domain books in rtf" and queries such as that, alas no luck! If anyone knows of a public domain book awaiting validation, that would be the perfect answer.I'll look again on the list of books waiting for validation to see if I havemissed anything that is public domain. Thanks for taking the time to answer and for your help!
