When I want to check on something in a book using Google, I just go to the main page, put in the title of the book, in quotes if it's more than one word, the author, also in quotes, then, also in quotes, enter the three or four words immediately preceding or following what I want to check. There's nothing to click. That's it. If Google has the book, I get the info I need. I've done this many times, so I know it works. You may need to try both words preceding and following what you want to check, depending on the snippet Google will show you. But, if Google has the book, doing one or the other, or both, of those will give you what you need.

I see that there are results, but there is nothing to click on. Only a
]with the page number.

If your book is on google, the first or second result is usually what you'd be looking for. After the search is done, I hit H twice with my JAWS and am

right at the results. HTH!

That makes sense. So if they do have the book, they will display like any
other google result?

That probably means that google does not have your book.

I have checked on books.google.com, and it says where the phrase is shown,
but I don't know how to display the pages. There are several unlabeled
buttons. Will they simply display? There are ]s before the page with the
phrase. When I click on them nothing happens.

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I have encountered this particular scannow in lots of nonfiction. In many
cases, the letters "ro" turn out to be "10." But not always. The number 4 is
also commonly recognized as an "r."
The bottom line is that you can't assume anything and you'll probably need
to check on books.google.com, or have someone sighted check on amazon peek
if there is one.

So the r should be a 0?

Hi people,

I am scanning a book with a scanno of ro. Does anyone know what that
might
be? It's a number of some sort, because the book is talking about a
something acre farm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lisa
