Hi Cindy,
As far as I can tell, it doesn't work. The page numbers will be
printed on the paper, if you actually print the file, but they don't appear
in the text of an rtf document.

Interesting. I didn't know ord had an insert page number feature. I've
always added page numbers by hand as I read/proof the book and put in page
breaks if needed. I'm glad to know about the feature, if it works, though.
