While I am lurker on this list and may not be entitled to an opinion, I do like to hear about the comings and goings, as well as the occasional stories of its participants. If it weren't for some of the slightly off topic conversations, I probably would not bother opening up the message anyway. One thing I can suggest for people who don't like receiving so many messages is to set your list serve preferances to receive the listserve once a day in digest format. The digest contains all of the messages for a day in one email, and places a listing of the all the subjects at the begining so I can quickly read through them and determine if there is anything in which I am interested. Then I can simply run a search to find the the subjects in the message. It only takes me 30 to 60 seconds to figure out if there was anything posted for the whole day that is of interest.
