Hi, Karen. Your book sounds really interesting, even if it's at the juvenile level. I'll definitely read it. Just so you know, what you are doing in proofreading your book is what we call prevalidating. Prevalidating is the work done by a person who has scanned a book before actually submitting it to Bookshare. As a side note, validaters adore people who do some proofreading of their scans before submitting. If people know that you do some proofreading before submitting a scan, they will line up at your door to work on your books. (grin)

Self-validating is a term used to describe when a person submits a book and then takes it to validate as well. This is not allowed because Bookshare wants to make sure that at least two people plus the admin look at a book before it enters the collection. So what you're doing is great. It's just not what is meant by self-validating when people use that term.

Lissi, one of our creative volunteers, started calling us Booksharians, and the name has stuck. So welcome to Bookshare, and I'm glad to have you as a fellow Booksharian.

Hi bookies -

I am a new volunteer. Hopefully I can live up to even half of the level some of you all achieve here.

I almost have my first book to submit. So could you please add this to the books in progress list under my name?
