Hi all,

Although it is a good idea to leave some quoted material so that the thread can be kept in tact, overquoting is never a good idea. There are several reasons for this:

First, on a technical list like this one, long strings of two to seven messages can clog up the archives so that nobody can find anything.

Second, people like Daria have to pay by the byte for their internet access. the longer a message is, the more bytes are downloaded by the Cell Phone, increasing the byte count for the month. It would be courteous if people would be mindful of this and refrain from overquoting.

Third, people in foreign countries, notably India, have to pay for their internet access by the byte. this includes home computers and computers in Internet cafes.

Just an FYI, many lists are now beginning to ask that "me too" messages be kept to a minimum. They serve no point and can be sent privately to the original poster.
