You want *all* of the bestsellers on Bookshare? I'd love it if people could
help out. I put on the top 10 hardcover fiction and non-fiction books, and the
paperback trade, mass market and non-fiction books, making a total of 50 books
that I ensure are in the collection in tip-top shape. There's a lot more
though. If you check the New York Times website (the lists are at
http://www.nytimes.com/indexes/2008/02/02/books/bestseller/index.html), you
will find the bestseller lists contain:
35 hardcover fiction
35 hardcover non-fiction
15 hardcover advice
10 children's picture books
10 children's chapter books
10 children's paperback books
10 children's series books
35 paperback trade fiction
35 paperback mass market fiction
15 paperback advice
for a grand total of 210 books. You'll notice I ignore the children's books
and the advice books entirely. If people want to process those, it would be
great! And sometimes there are books that don't quite make it to the top 10 in
the other categories. Those would be good too.

My one request is to make New York Times books not just excellent, but as close
to perfect as possible. No scannos, no junk characters, no missing page numbers
or page breaks - you know the drill. Because so many people read them, they
really need to be top quality.

HTH, Carrie

That is how I find-out what the latest bestsellers
are. However, I do know that not everybody does this. Also, it is
easier to store one little email which everybody can access and discuss.
It is just a thought. It would make getting these bestsellers *all of
them* on Bookshare.

  It would be great
if every week's NY Times bestseller list could be posted on this list.
That way, if Bookshare does not get the books, we can get them on our
own. It would be a money saver and time saver all
  around.

Re: February New York Times bestsellers

    If a book is
published next week, hits the NYT bestseller list, then falls off that list
in two or three weeks, it won't make the March list. If such a scenario
presents itself, will Bookshare be able to make middle-of-the-month
purchases, so that all books which grace the bestseller list that are not
already part of the collection, will be added? This leads logically to
another question. Is Bookshare aiming to get *all* NYT bestsellers into the
collection? Or is this based on monetary limitations and/or other
    criteria?

    Thanks,

    Scott

      Hi gang,

Here's the
list of the bestsellers. Instead of putting in a huge order once a
month, I've been picking the books up as I stumble across them in my
wanderings around bookstores. I've included the status of each book
after the title so you can see where it is in the scanning and validation
      process.
