Allison
I have the Epson Perfection 4180 and, combined with K1000, gives me
excellent results.
It lists for $250 or so but should be available for just under $200.
I'm new at the scanning game so I cannot offer comparative experiences.
What I can tell you is the scans I get on seemingly less than ideal
material such as paperbacks and church newsletters approach 99%+
confidence levels regularly.
I purchased mine at Staples in early November.
