I downloaded it and looked through the menus. So far it makes no sense to
me. I suppose I will have to set some time aside to read the help section.

Sue, that is but 1 of its functions, & a tiny 1 at that. EdSharp is a
text editor which can, among many other things, edit .rtf files. It
truly is a multipurpose editor.
