You're right, the farther along it went, the more depressing it was. I have
been proofing so many kids books & history type books that it was difficult
to switch gears to the futuristic style. Maybe I'm more fitted for kids'
stuff. It doesn't take as much of my brain to understand those books.

I am glad that we all can contribute all different types of literature.

Hey, don't blame me if you don't like it. I said it seemed like a
downer (I read it a long time ago and only skimmed it for obvious
scannos and other problems after scanning it).

But maybe my view of some things has changed over time. I just recently
read Earth Abides, a famous post apocalypse book which I read many many
years ago and have always thought of as rather cheery (for a post
apocalypse story). This time, maybe the first half of the book seemed
kind of fun, but as the main character aged and the young folks who knew
nothing of the previous civilization became dominant, that book became
pretty depressing, too.
