It's Okay, Cindy. That was my first thought, too. I guess I don't really think of Bookshare as apublisher.

Well, Jake did explain to me when I asked him off-list
(trying to keep from cluttering the list and feeling
as if I was somewhat stupid or naive and not wanting
to announce that publicly--grin) that the publication
date the datre of inclusion in the collection--at
least of the English and Spanish lists. I didn't look
further.

It is true, now that you mention it, that the date put
in the submission and uploading form is the copyright
date, which, though not always the publication date
because of reissued books and new editions, often is,
especially for the newer books--which is what I saw
when I first looked at Jake's list. Hence, probablyh,
my confusion. If I'd seen a 1945 or 1956 in there I'd
probably have realized--and, in fact, what made me
suspect and ask Jake was that I saw a 2004 among the
2006s and 2005s--I think. smile

Cindy and Sue,

Original Publication Date probably refers to sorting
books starting with the
earliest books approved because the date that the
print book is published by
the publisher isn't part of the submission and
validation forms, so the
publication date that you're talking about won't be
included in the
database. Therefore, the system won't be able to
sort books by that date.

Instead of speculating on what Jake means, though,
we ought to just ask
Jake. Care to explain it to us, Jake?

Gerald

confusion

Could be. I didn't read further down than I needed
to.
smile. And I was at first confused. But as I said to
Gerald, it's probably just me. And I'm straightened
out now. smile
