Hi Gerald, Cindy and Sue,
Well, I suppose I could enlighten you. That's about all I feel that I
can accomplish now after studying for my Discrete Math test tomorrow
morning. *grin*
Yes, all publication dates refer to publication on BookShare.org. Gerald
is correct that the BookShare system does not store original print
publication data, only copyright data, which as Cindy points out, can be
different.
The original (BookShare) publication date is the same one you can select
from on the combo box on the Advanced Search page (publication date). The
Last One Hundred Years or something like that was the first book put through
the system.
Night all,
Jake

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Confusion Over Meaning Of Original Publication
Date
Cindy and Sue,
Original Publication Date probably refers to sorting books starting with the
earliest books approved because the date that the print book is published by
the publisher isn't part of the submission and validation forms, so the
publication date that you're talking about won't be included in the
database. Therefore, the system won't be able to sort books by that date.
Instead of speculating on what Jake means, though, we ought to just ask Jake. Care to explain it to us, Jake?
Gerald

Could be. I didn't read further down than I needed to. smile. And I was at first confused. But as I said to Gerald, it's probably just me. And I'm straightened out now. smile

Well, going on down the links, doesn't it specify ORIGINAL which, I think, would mean the publication date by the publishers of the books????? Or am I wrong???
