Dear Evan,

Don't be sorry. Even a misreading reminds me to write some things more clearly
though I meant it more in fun than as a philosophical statement of either my
eternal optimism in seeking an impossibility. I had not known of the UT
reference or perhaps I would not have been "seeking" anything as dangerous or
evil. Much as I love cats I think I had best give those 9 a pass. I have
enough trouble with my 2 - especially my aptly named Tybalt though I did not
know the name would end up being so appropriate. And I love learning new things
and finding old friends have loves I had not known we shared though I have not
had much time for Tolkien of late.

Though only very indirectly related to the subject. I just saw a short (60m)
film on C.S. Lewis and the Chronicles of Narnia, a brief biographical film by
Douglas Grisham who co-produced the newest Narnia movie as well as authoring a
biography I just downloaded. He is the stepson of Lewis, Though you probably
know that, and did a nice job on this movie and I expect his bio will also be
good though I doubt if his is as religious as his step-father. I look forward
finding the time to read it. For someone short on time it was perfect. It is
nice to know that there is someone who, if not a Christopher Tolkien, is at
least an heir to Lewis in other ways. He left more than just his books though
calling them "just" is and injustice. <smile>

Starburst)

Well, the possibility occurred to me that it wasn't meant literally, since it
was after the body of the message. But most people's signatures are more in the
form of quotes or statements, not giving the appearance of seeking information.
In other words, it was ambiguous, so I took the chance that it was meant
literally. The fact that most people looking at that will have no idea what it
refers to, "Seeking what?", so they would likely not get the point of the tag
line, contributed to the ambiguity. Sorry.

  Evan

And I thought I was a literalist. You outdo me by yards. Now. Do you know
where they are currently? You can translate my "tag" into "Still seeking that
which is impossible to find." However, I thank you for the impossible. I knew
of the reference in LOTR but not the one in UT.

      Amy,

You can find what little there is about Queen Beruthiel and her cats in
Unfinished Tales. The easiest way to find it would probably be to download the
Daisy copy from Bookshare, open the html version and simply do a search for
Beruthiel. That should bring up the info. A scary lady she was.

Perhaps an even easier way - after Googling "Queen Beruthiel" and
clicking on the first hit on the results page might be to go to
      http://www.daimi.au.dk/~bouvin/tolkien/beruthiel.html
where you will get the same information as in Unfinished Tales.

My partial apologies: I thought I had Starburst - was absolutely
certain - until I went looking. I have most of the stories so I will be able
to rescan them but in another collection : Visual Realities. I can also rescan
3 novels if needed and will be attempting to get copies of The Deceivers, Golem
[to the 100th power] - my keyboard does not put footnote nor nth power
notations, and any others that need rescanning if corrections are not
sufficient. The short stories will be first and the rest as I can get to them.I
may be committed for having committed myself to number of books I have but I am
having fun doing them all as long as no one is in too much of a hurry. I hope
there are validators as crazy as I am.

and I still am seeking Queen Beruthiel's cats.
        Have you seen them?
