Dear KOS, Below is the list of community meetings that the TVA is conducting to hear comments about the draft EIS on the Reservoir Operations Study. The draft outlines the base case (do nothing) and 8 alternatives. Most of the alternatives seek to extend the length of time that the lakes are at summer pool. All eight of the alternatives will have an adverse effect on migratory shorebirds (as stated in Table ES-02 "Summary of Impacts by Policy Alternative" under Terrestrial Ecology in the Executive Summary document). The EIS is available for viewing on the TVA website: www.tva.com. Click on: Read a study update and information about the meetings. On the right hand side of the screen is a paragraph that says Environmental Impact Statement, click on the words: Read it here. From that page you can read the different parts of the EIS and you can submit your comments online. You can also comment via snail mail by writing: David Nye ROS Project Manager TVA, c/o WT 11A 400 West Summit Hill Dr. Knoxville, TN 37902 Shorebird habitat has been addressed in the draft EIS in 3 areas: 1) Analysis of impacts to threatened and endangered species 2) Terrestrial ecology 3) Analyzing impacts to management areas and ecological sites The EIS is in chapters and some of these areas will be covered in more than one chapter.
