According to this morning's Lexington Herald-Leader, the Richmond City Commissioners noted to rescind the earlier action. As of right now, no RV park will be built at the Camp Catalpa site. The area does need to be cleaned up and the grounds repaired. Perhaps a good Saturday work opportunity for KOS or or combination of environmental groups and Boy and Girl SCouts. I found out today that the city of Richmond wants to turn Camp Catalpa park/bird sanctuary into an RV park. If anyone from the Richmond area is interested, I'll provide contact info for the person fighting the proposal. I've lived here over 3 years, and I'd always thought that place was a gated, private concern. I walked it today--a very lovely, unique 15 acres against the lake.

Not a lot going on birdwise. At Owsley: pied-billed grebe, bufflehead, ring-necked, mallard, coot. At Reba: horned grebe, mallard, ring-necked, coot--other water birds too too far away....
