Everything was quiet on the Reforest the Bluegrass areas/ Upper West Hickman. Below the tributary below the large grass field, some nice birds in riparian zone Yellow Warbler --singing mostly what I call his "chestnut sided-sounding" song, distinguished for me by the C.S. warbler's slightly slurred notes, and the Y. warbler's aren't at all, they punch the air emphatically. He did give me his "little more sweet" song a couple of times too. Yellow Rumped--singing and "check" calling constantly. Cerulean--singing Black-Throated Green--not a peep for some reason. (Creek at the pipeline) Yellow-Throated Warbler--singing. Northern Parula--singing nonstop. Orchard Oriole--singing just downstream of footbridge but hushed, never saw him. Baltimore Oriole--singing at southern fence park boundary. Red Tailed Hawk. I hoped to pick up a Prairie Warbler on the brushy shruby trails but all was quiet on the western front except--a Gray Catbird, who sang and meowed! Best birding wishes, Ben Albritton Lexington
