After viewing the Livonia MI towhee pics and reading the accounts in Rising's Sparrows and Kaufman's Lives of NA Birds I am questioning whether this bird is a first year bird or not. The IN bird has a very well defined rufous cap and the throat and malar area are also well defined very much unlike the MI bird. Last night I also observed more green in the nape than I had previously seen. Any input or discussion on this would be appreciated. Thanks. Gary Dorman New Albany, Floyd Co.
