Nicole Ranalli and I conducted a shorebird survey at Mitchell Lake in Ballard County on August 4. Highlights of the survey include: Killdeer 300+ Semipalmated Plover 3 Solitary Sandpiper 13 Spotted Sandpiper 2 Semipalmated Sandpiper 13 including a gorgeous juv Least Sandpiper 29 Pectoral Sandpiper 166 Great Egret 500+ Snowy Egret 4 Little Blue Heron 8-10 Bald Eagle 3 Mississippi Kite 10+ in the area We also had a brief look at a distant bird in silhouette as it dropped below a tree line that I think may have been an Inca Dove. It was the right size and shape with the same flicking wingbeats, and was seen along the gravel road that parallels the eastern side of Mitchell Lake. Keep this bird in mind if you are in the area. dave __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
