Made a brief stop at Mitchell Lake yesterday in search of shorebirds and waders. Water is still very high and needs to drop about 6 inches before any habitat will be available. Water is currently being dropped out so habitat may improve dramatically in the next few weeks? Birds seen Snow goose 5 Can goose Mallard 10 Wood duck 50-75 in north end flooded vegetation Cormorant 4 Bald eagle 2 Martin Cliff swallow barn swallow tree swallow Yellow warbler Ky warbler A very uncooperative wren that was most likely a marsh Butterflies were everywhere in the fields around Mitchell. I'm no butterflyologist but Monarchs and Common Buckeye's were quite conspicuous. Scott Record Ragland KY
