[birdky] Incidental birding results on 22 Jan and 23 Jan

23 January 2005:
Yesterday, 22 January, while waiting on my daughter to date the SAT in
at Glasgow High, I did some light birding on the north side of Barren
River Reservoir (Barren County). I we not prepared for the strong winds
in my kaki slacks, so my scans of the lake were perhaps somewhat
abbreviated.
At Beaver Creek, a few Ring-billed Gulls were observed along with a
Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets, and a Ruby-crowned
Kinglet.
At the gated end of Girl Scout Road, a Winter Wren was observed.
At the Peninsula, also called Sawyer's Landing/Marina, a single Common
Loon along with some Ring-billed gulls and a few Bonaparte's Gulls were
observed.
At the dam, only several uncounted Ring-billed Gulls and Bonaparte's
Gulls were observed. The wind was very strong and this is the area were
I most likely missed birds sitting on the lake.
In Glasgow itself, the K-Mart parking lot hosted 200+ Ring-billed Gulls.
Later on 22 January, at Basil Griffin Park (Bowling Green/Warren County)
I observed 150+ Canada Geese, 1 apparent Cackling Goose, a few Mallards,
Lesser Scaup, and Ring-necked Ducks.
Today, 23 January, Petros Pond (Warren County) yielded 6 Mute Swans,
100+ Canada Geese, 5 Redheads, and 4 Mallards. Much of the Pond was
frozen over.
Also today, there were no waterfowl on the Auburn Cemetery Transited
Pond located on the west Side of Auburn (Logan County)
