I have finally received the bird lists from all of our field groups for the
Lexington area CBC. We had a total of 52 observers. We had a total of 73
species
as compared to 80 in 2011, 88 in 2010 and 73 in 2009, and 16,275 individuals.
Notable misses for our area included Green-winged Teal, Common Goldeneye,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Brown Thrasher.
Notable gets included Ross' Goose, Blue-winged Teal, Redhead, Bobwhite, Merlin.
We also had high counts (compared to the last three years) for Turkeys,
Killdeer, Rock Pigeons, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Flickers, Pileated
Woodpeckers,
Carolina Wrens, Bluebirds, Yel-rump Warblers.
Good news that I did not see any significant decreases in any species compared
to the last three years.
