With snow on the ground and the temperature at 7° this morning the birds
were very actively feeding at our feeders starting at daybreak.
I counted 21 species for the day. The Fox Sparrow was back for the 3rd. day.
Six male Cardinals decorated the landscape with their brilliant read against
the snow.
The 8 grackles that came in werent as welcome as the others, but I suppose
they are having a hard time finding food also.
Attached are two photos of a Northern Flicker that came to eat and guard the
suet block for awhile. I took these photos with my Sunba security/wildlife
camera that is mounted on the side of our house.
