I was excited to finally get some orioles at my feeders this year. As a
beginner birder I was especially excited to spot an American Bittern at Glen
Alton Farm - on the boardwalk through the marsh/pond - last Friday. If I hadn't
seen a very slight movement out of the corner of my eye I would have never
found it among the leafless downed trees that camouflaged it. Glen Alton is a
wonderful place to visit----just past Pearisburg on your way to Blacksburg off
460.
