Hi Mei -
When I make a libguide for our students, I evaluate the sources before I
put it on the libguide. If, however, the exercise is for the students to go
out into the wild and find sources, I expect them to do the source
evaluation and provide evidence for why they believe the source is high
quality. When building my libguides, I like to look at other librarians'
libguides to remind myself of sources I have in the library and to discover
quality sources I don't know about.

I really appreciate all these resource recommendations! As someone also
fairly new to it all, it's very helpful.  In checking out a number of
websites though, I'm finding it a bit problematic that some do not have
include authoritative credentials.  For example, we have had catholic.org
listed in our subject guide. The organization has been around for a long
time, but there is no About Us. If we're teaching students how to evaluate
sources, how do we then recommend sites that don't pass muster? I was
disturbed also to go on catholic.org yesterday and find a big Donation
Ask box at the top of the page. Further digging uncovered the fact that the
founder was recently convicted of tax evasion!

I'm feeling much more comfortable going with the standard subscription
database providers such as Gale or Ebsco who have biography and religion
products. And, books.

One of my favorite tips is to look at libguides for ideas. Here are just
a few guides I found when I searched: saints libguides.

Hi all!

I hope you're having a happy New Year! I have an English teacher who is
giving her students a research project on canonication and Catholic saints.
This is my first year working at a Catholic school, so I don't have
previous experience with Catholic research resources - does anyone have a
resource or a list of relevant resources they would recommend?

Thank you so much, everyone!

Best,
